So my buddies over at THXMGMT ask me to work on a second project for Sons of Hippies and I gotta say I was pretty excited for the opportunity. I had worked with them on a previous project and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Here is what I came up with.

I had a lot of fun working on this and remember everything me and SOH had talked about before in regards to there artistic stylings. I am happy to see that they were very pleased with this work and from what I hear, there was a lot of good feed back about this particular poster at the show. So with that said, potentially there might be some prints of this piece coming up pretty soon. Only time will tell.

A very comforting talk from the author of Eat Pray Love. A bit depressing half way threw but still very good to hear what she has to say.

Elizabeth Gilbert muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses – and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person “being” a genius, all of us “have” a genius. It’s a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk.

The Trip of a Lifetime

So I took a trip up to Albany to see some pretty awesome people. I took my little iflip camera and got a substantial amount of footage of our crazy endeavors. It took me a little while but I finally managed to edit all 32 videos I took into a hour and 40 min movie/documentary. So if anyone was crazy enough and had insomniac-like habits like I do. You might have been awake long enough to see this pretty awesome display in regards to the moon. Two hours later with absolute frustration and a cold wet body, I did manage to catch a pretty decent shot with my Canon 50D. With a few exposure tweaks in photoshop; liked it so much – I made it into a poster. I had the hardest time trying to keep my camera still without a tripod, knowing I was going to get the best results with a prolonged exposure. Thank you pool chair for solving my problems.

Found this little gem while combing the internet for new design inspiration. With a consistent electonica overtone, these guys still manage to pull of a very euro-inde kind of vibe. A nice blend of idie rock and manically ambient electonica, mixes well into there less than challenging melodious. With that said, I’d also like to say it works perfectly for these guys. Anything more complicated and ” showy ” and I think the album would turn out a bit to busy and over the top. Based out of Antwerp Belgium, this group has struck some tunes made for driving at dusk.

So I’ve been following this girl for about 4 years now back when she had only 60,000 views on Myspace. Told all my friends she was going to be the next big thing and even dropped her name to a few music critics I’ve been working with. Naturally given that I was just some rookie college kid, no one took me seriously and what do you know? She shows up with her debut album on the home page of itunes and was awarded best new artist in the UK. Case in point – Ellie Goulding is a fascinating blend between a singer songwriter soul mixing in with inde-electronica pop.

So Black Friday was today and I was among the insane amount of people who were waiting in line to get some crazy cheap deal on something most likely they didn’t need. As much as I wanted the 40′ flat screen TV for $300 bucks at Target. I settled for a new 20′ LED monitor to accompany my workspace for about $120 ( this was the only way I could justify spending any money on this financial holiday ). With that said, I would like to arise awareness of buying from local shops. I’ve been reading all morning around Facebook and other blog post about the need to do this and honestly I wish I could be among the people who would. Yet, I among a strong majority of the population lack the funds to even pay attention at this point. But when I did pay attention just for a bit, I realized I had no idea where else I would get this kind of stuff from a mom and pop shop. The lack of family owed business astonished me when I really thought about it and when I came across this article referencing America Unchained – I found something wich looked to be a very interesting documentary on this very subject.

This Dave Gorman guy seems to be tackling this idea head on and I’m pretty excited to see how it works out for him. Buy Here.
